Standardised Panels

April 27, 2010

We have just built a new larger layup table allowing us to now output panels 6000mmx2400mm or up to 40 8x4's at a time.

These panels are epoxy vacuumed for maximum strength and minimum weight and are smooth on both sides ready for painting.

We can now add a smooth white gel-coat layer as part of the process

CurrentNews:

We have recently found a superior gelcoat sourced from Great Britain.

We can now offer a range of finishes and weights.

We've Moved

April 27, 2010

We have relocated to two new factories in historic Bellingen NSW.

One specializes in making the panels while the other is set up for CNC routing.

New Cores

April 27, 2010

We have now negotiated with several companies to expand our range of cores to ensure we have the exact right core for every job. These range from the many foams to the plastic or aluminium hexagon shaped cores.

Australian Composite Panels

We at Australian Composite Panels produce lightweight cored panels as well as  products made from them. We also make a range of products to order from fibre glass. (See Recent Projects Page)

These panels are 6m x 2.4m and can be CNC routed in house to your requirements.

Our Premium product is laminated with Epoxy resin impregnated fibreglass or carbon fibre or Kevlar for use in the marine, transport, architecture, construction, entertainment, leisure and sporting industries where emphasis is on high strength, rigidity and where light weight is fundamental. Other materials such as plywood, aluminium and other amazing metal veneers, gelcoat, timber veneer or marble can be fixed to one or both sides of our composite panels during our manufacturing process where weight is not critical but architectural design or such things as fire rating features are.

A unique feature of our panels is that they are structural and can eliminate the need for a complicated, heavy and time consuming framework, or reduce it substantially. The cost savings can be considerable.

For those more comfortable working with framework or those who find the cost of our Premium panel prohibitive we also make a more cost effective and better insulating range of panels where the superior strength and structural integrity of our premium panel is not required. Typically these panels we make using a Blue Styrofoam core, vacuum laminated with a woven glass backed gelcoat on each side.

Core options: The materials available for the core are Polycore© (a polypropylene honeycomb), blue Styrofoam and a range of PVC and PIR  foams. Each has its own distinct range of advantages we are happy to discuss with you.

We have the in house facilities to CNC route any shapes from these panels.

From our Premium panels we offer DIY kits for a 12 metre cruising catamaran, the Solitary Island 12, a 5.8 metre Trailerable Riverboat, a 5.7 metre garvey styled runabout, a 3.3 metre garvey dinghy and a Kit Camper to build using a box trailer as a base.

We also build tapered, round, free standing carbon masts.

Epoxy Panels

What else is so light, strong and rigid yet does not rust, rot or fatigue and is fully reusable years later?

Our pride and joy is the Mark Stephens designed Solitary Island 12 performance cruising catamaran (once the Pacific 40) built entirely from our panels cored with honeycombed Polycore©, except for the resin infused, round, foam-cored hull shoes. All components are CNC routed in house providing total ease of speedy, accurate assembly. Because our panels are very smooth on both sides fairing (the greatest time-waster of boat building) is kept to an absolute minimum.
